A Zoo Like No Other

Rabbi Nachman and Miriam Zakon

Join Zeidy Zakon in his jeep as we visit a zoo like no other … and find a minyan in a mall!

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Where to now, Zeidy?

We’re going to a Jewish zoo.

Huh? What makes a zoo Jewish?

For one thing, it’s closed on Yom Kippur. There are more things that make this a “Jewish” zoo, but we’ll see when we get there.

In the meantime, kinderlach, does anyone know why we are going to visit the zoo this month? What does Cheshvan have to do with animals?

I know Zeidy, we just learned it! Cheshvan is the month the mabul, the great flood, started and Noach and all the animals went into the teivah.

Right! Give that girl an animal cracker! And a year later, also in chodesh Cheshvan, Noach and his “zoo” left the teivah after the flood. Okay, everyone in and let’s zoom … zoom … zoom … to the zoo, zoo, zoo!
