Zeidy Zakon

Rabbi Nachman and Miriam Zakon

Who likes fish? Oh good Zeidy, we’re ordering sushi. No, we’ll get our own fish out of the water, and then we’ll make a mangal. What’s that? You’ll see when we do it. Everyone in the jeep. Bubby, did you pack the mangal stuff? All in, Zeidy. And I took Tehillims for all of us.

kever rebbi meir baal-hanesWe’re ready to go… gooo-goooo up north, to the Kinneret and Tiveria.

Tiveria is one of the four holy cities. Who knows others?

I do Zeidy! Yerushalayim, Chevron, and Tzefas.

Absolutely! About a hundred years after the Beis HaMikdash was destroyed Tiveria became the major Torah center where the Sanhedrin was. The city is located on the shores of the Kinneret. The Kinneret is a holy sea because it’s the only sea in the world completely surrounded by Eretz Yisrael on all sides.

The water in the Kinneret is sweet, and it’s where most of Eretz Yisrael’s drinking water comes from.

Look, I see water. It’s so pretty.

Everyone hold on tight, I see a dirt path that will bring us right up to the water.

Heyyyyy! Ow! Whee!

What’s the matter?
