Around the Globe — Cyprus

Shira Yehudit Djalilmand

All strapped in and ready to go? Today we’re off to visit a Mediterranean island bursting with ancient history and modern fun — Cyprus!

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

Cyprus, as you’ll see as we fly over, is a big island. The third biggest island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is located close to Turkey, Greece, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel — it’s actually closer to Israel than to Greece. You can see what a gorgeous island it is. Cyprus has won international prizes for its beauty! Let’s take a spin over the huge pine forests, and there are plenty of them as almost half the island is pine forest. Up in the Troodos Mountains we have to fly high to miss the peak of Mount Olympus, the highest mountain on Cyprus. We could even stop off to ski in the mountains too — in Cyprus you can sunbathe on the beach and then go skiing on the same day!
