“So,” Mr. Hirsch said as he handed back our essay papers. “I’m sorry to say that I was very, very disappointed with the fiction stories you boys wrote this week.”

Well, I could certainly understand that. I wrote a story about a boy who loved his dog so much he wouldn’t go to school in the morning because he didn’t want to leave his dog. But it was a fiction story, after all. Well, I supposeMr.Hirsch didn’t care that it was a fiction story. He gave me my paper back with a fat red C-minus on its heading.
