Jr. Record Breakers

Rochel Burstyn

Do you hear that crashing and banging sound? It’s breaking! What’s breaking, you might ask? More records, of course! Hear all about a girl who walked up a storm and a fabulous class of Amen-answerers:

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Name: Shayna Berkowitz Location: Miami Beach, Florida Jr. Record Fame: Longest walk — 2.5 hours in the boilingFlorida sun More details:BaisYaakovMiami hosts a walk-a-thon to raise money for their school, and girls are invited to participate. The walk was from their school inNorth Miami Beach to Shemtov’s Restaurant inMiami Beach, a total of 13 miles. Shayna says it was great fun and she earned herself a final exemption, all while doing a big mitzvah. The only downside: She forgot to lather up with sunscreen…. Luckily, Purim was a little while later and she had an automatic costume: Because of her terrible sunburn, she already looked like a red puffer fish. Message: You’ll always come across people from all walks of life. Don’t walk on eggshells (or walk the plank!), just take everything step-by-step and go the extra mile, and you’ll leave your footprint on the world.
