Calling all talents! Nearim invites all middle-school boys for our annual talent show. The top two winners will receive a $50 gift certificate to Fun and Games, and their pictures will be posted in our monthly newsletter. Hmm. Yehuda studied the poster on the school bulletin board. Sounds interesting. But what can I do? They’re probably looking for guys who have real talents, like art, music, woodwork… I never win anything anyway. So why should I bother entering?

Walking away, a sudden thought stopped Yehuda in his tracks. What about impersonations? Maybe they want something new and different. Feeling like a ping-pong ball zipping from one side of the table to the other, Yehuda debated back and forth. Oh, come on. You know you don’t stand a chance. But if I don’t try, how will I ever know? Besides, what do I have to lose? Okay, okay, you win! Yehuda conceded, imagining slamming the ball to score the winning point. Yehuda jotted down his name before he changed his mind. Now I’d better start practicing.
