Ask any kid in Eretz Yisrael what images that conjures up in his mind, and he will tell you large bonfires, spirited dancing and singing, a trip to the tziyun of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron, and … chalakah. Every year, hundreds of little boys make the trip to Meron, where, before having their hair cut for the very first time, they are placed on the shoulders of their fathers, who dance with them in a circle.
