Kosher sushi is all the rage these days, and you don’t have to leave the comfort and convenience of your local Orthodox neighborhood to get some of this Japanese delicacy. But imagine you were raising a frum family in Japan. To get kosher sushi, you can’t drive down the street, passing the kosher butcher, bagel store, grocery, and shul — because you don’t have a car, and Tokyo has no kosher butcher, nor any bagel store, and certainly no shul. Yet interestingly enough, the Aldrich family finds Japan to be a very hospitable atmosphere for raising frum children
