The response of the general public to the catastrophe that was the Holocaust is to erect memorials and build Holocaust museums, to teach about democracy and tolerance, all so that it should never happen again. Just last week, the Jewish community of Montreal saw a very different response. At the three-day Zechor Yemos Olam seminar, the platitudes of “never again” and “cultural tolerance” were noticeably absent.
